Climate Scientist

Govindarajalu ensures scientific reliability in the design of the Resilience Data and Analytics Services (RDAS) for climate modeling and regional downscaling.

At RIMES, Govindarajalu serves as Chief Scientist for Climate Applications. His work focuses on climate analysis to understand risks to societal systems, and the development of decision support tools. He also leads investigations on climate variability, trends and change, and identifies risks posed to societal systems. In addition, he provides expert assistance to National Meteorological and Hydrological Services to deliver climate data, products and tools. He facilitates the capacity building of users for the application of climate information in planning and decision-making processes.

Govindarajalu holds a doctoral degree in Atmospheric Sciences from the Indian Institute of Technology, and carried out postdoctoral work at the University of East Anglia, UK, and the Rutgers University, USA.
