In pursuit of CARE for South Asia Component 1’s objective to create an enabling environment for climate-resilient policies and investments across South Asia, the project is operationalizing climate-smart livestock Decision Support System (DSS) for the livestock sector in Bangladesh in close coordination with the Department of Livestock Services (DLS).

On 29 April 2024, a training workshop on the National Livestock Advisory System (NLAS) was conducted for select members of the DLS who form a core operational group to equip them with the knowledge and capacity to effectively manage and disseminate advisories using the NLAS DSS. In this way, they will be able to effectively and efficiently interpret weather and climate information in aid of crafting advisories and guiding adaptation strategies for livestock development.

“I hope this kind of training can help to maximize the benefits from the DSS, and farmers will benefit as well,” said Dr. Md. Reajul Huq, Director General, Department of Livestock Services, Farmgate, Dhaka to the core team.
